About Me
Writer, editor, producer, photographer, musician, voiceover artist and amateur yodeller, Aaron Sousa loves to connect with people and do anything to tell a story in the best possible way.
Born in Kitchener, Ont., he grew up in rural New Brunswick and went to high school in Saint John, N.B., singing in two choirs and taking part in musical theatre. It was also in high school that, thanks to a semester-long internship with CBC, he discovered a love for journalism, street reporting and storytelling.
While studying at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, N.B., he worked for The Aquinian as a reporter, photographer, chief photo editor and editor-in-chief. He also freelanced for The Canadian Press, Acadia Broadcasting and the Tele-graph-Journal.
After graduation, he packed his bags for the "wild west" to join CBC Edmonton and later Global News Edmonton. He now works as an Alberta correspondent for The Canadian Press, Canada's national news agency.
When he’s not sharing stories, he's listening to music, socializing and digging through thrift store bins for his latest find.
“'Journalism is printing something that someone does not want printed. All else is public relations.”
George Orwell
